My name is Caroline Sallen (hence the name of my art business…) and I have a passion for Art!
FIBER ARTIST I pursued art at Truman State University where I took many painting, drawing, and fiber art classes. During this time, I discovered that my true interest was with fiber art. I loved experimenting with different types of fiber, texture, color, and the endless possibilities of various fibers.
Along with taking art classes at Truman State, I also received my Masters in Special Education. Currently, I am a special education teacher at Boone High School in Boone, Iowa. My husband is a Spanish teacher at Boone High School, and we are so grateful to be working in the same school!
In my free time (when I’m not playing with my miniature poodle or hanging out with my husband!), I love creating various pieces of fiber artwork. During the summer and on weekends, I devote a lot of time to adding inventory to my business. I sell my artwork at a variety of events (see my Events page) as well as on my Etsy shop (https://www.etsy.com/shop/CarolineSallen). If you want to stay updated on current projects I'm working on as well as upcoming events, please "like"my Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/carolinesallenfiberartist)!
I was a fiber art major at Truman State University in Kirksville, MO. During my time studying fiber art, I learned how to dye a variety of fabrics. Specifically, I discovered that I am passionate about exploring the use of silk and color to create an artistic fashion statement.
My hand-dyed silk scarves are created using professional quality acid dyes and chemicals. Each scarf has been washed two times and the dyes have all been heat set. This ensures that each scarf will maintain it's vibrant colors as well as its shape and size. My scarves are unique and luxurious gifts. There are endless possibilities of ways to wear scarves, making them the perfect accessory for any outfit and any occasion!
